Dred Scott Vs. SandfordDred Scott was an enslaved African American who went to a abolished state and back to Missouri, and there anti slavery lawyers helped him sue for his freedom, and when supreme court denied his freedom, many questions about the integrity of slavery were raised.

John Brown and Harper´s Ferry
John Brown, an abolitionist, attacked a federal arsenal in the confederate city of Harper's Ferry, which is a federal storage site for weapons. This event made tensions between the north and south as some viewed it as treason and some viewed John Brown as a hero.
